1 On 1 Communications - High Speed Internet - Service Availability Update

Howdy Everyone!

TJ Lynas and I missed each other on Tuesday by about a half an hour - but it turned out for the better with the rain and fog limiting visibility a great deal.  We got together on Friday afternoon instead.

TJ and I scouted a location at around 1400 feet elevation that turns out to have an uninhibited line of sight back to several of the multi-radio repeater stations I have deployed in Rainbow.  The property owners involved are very excited about the potential to leave satellite communications behind, and I'll be performing signal testing on Sunday to determine link quality, which is to say... to find out if I need to deploy some additional gear in Rainbow to strengthen the signal into DeLuz.  Either way, from this location I can CERTAINLY bring dedicated connectivity to the Fiber Optics our company has terminated in Rainbow!

I've posted a rudimentary elevation map at the following link (and I realize it's zoomed in to a very small area for detail - our coverage area will be MUCH larger):

Homes located within the blue circles will be able to receive our service right away.  Bear in mind: if your home doesn't fall within these blue circles that's OK.  Each new customer radio we deploy extends the range of our service to still more customers.  (So for example, Suzy Smith may not be able to get service today because a 1200 foot mountain is between her and the closest radio.  Her house has a line of sight to her neighbor Tom Jones, who does have an appropriate view.  Tom signs up for service, and once his radio is installed, Suzy can also obtain service.) Note the black shaded areas - these are radio "shadows" created by a mountain or other naturally occurring presence.  Homes in these shadows will need some "help" to get service.

I'll be working to bring a minimum of 5.0Mbps service into DeLuz with my first repeater station, and even higher speeds moving forward.  This level of service is well suited for streaming on-line video (such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and supports technologies such as VoIP.  MagicJack, Vonage, Skype and other forms of telephony work flawlessly with our service.

Our robust network transferred nearly 300 gigabytes of data over the past seven days!

I will post another update after signal testing is completed on Sunday the 9th.  In the mean time, here are some additional details for your consideration:

-1 On 1 Communications will charge $100.00 to perform installation at your location, as well as $69.99 for your first month of service.  1 On 1 Communications retains "ownership" of your customer premise equipment (CPE) radio unit, will provide service of the radio, and replacement under warranty in required.

-Customers execute a short 6 month contract with 1 On 1 Communications LLC, which becomes a month-to-month engagement thereafter.  Customers who have fulfilled their contract may take advantage of our referral program, receiving a free month of service for each newly referred customer who receives installation.

-Customers currently utilizing a satellite provider for the Internet can take advantage of our "Dump the Dish" program to offset the expense of breaking their contract. (Details: http://1on1communications.com/node/12)

-1 On 1 Communications does not impose data caps or limits.

-Our "average" customer consumes between 3.55GB and 15GB of data per month.

-Our "heaviest" use customers consume between 10.5GB and 90GB of data per month.

Hey All,

Good times in De Luz. It looks like we may have more than one option for high speed in De Luz. My suggestion to all my fellow De Luzians is to read over the agreement before you sign anything. Make sure you know what the minmum upload/download speeds are. If there are any restrictions on the amount of data you download. Any restrictions on streaming or downloading movies.. What the installation and monthly fees are. How long is the commitment. I''m going to go with 1 on 1 because he is providing higher speed, shorter contract, lower upfront costs and lower monthly fees. He is testing it today and should have some feedback by tomorrow. If you're interested in getting more information from 1 on 1 go to their web site.

Now it's time to go watch some football.

Time for another update - exciting news to share!

I established our preliminary bridge link from Rainbow into DeLuz this afternoon, and we're enjoying very good metrics.  I've got a good deal of work to do both tomorrow and over the weekend, after which a great deal more testing.  You may see me in my white Isuzu Trooper with the hazards flashing as I slowly creep along with my laptop and other scanning gear.  I combine GPS tracking with my other tools to build a map of my new coverage areas once I bring a new repeater station into operation.

The speeds I'm getting over the bridge are very impressive:

I expect my phone will be ringing off the hook over the next couple of weeks.  It's not uncommon to find me on a ladder, on someone's roof, or having a meeting with someone, and while working in De Luz it won't be uncommon for me to leave cellular coverage as well.  I hate to be one of those people that always greets potential customers with a stale voice mail message, but sometimes it's inevitable.  Please be sure to leave a voice mail with your contact details AND your address.  I'll be reviewing a great deal of messaging returning home most evenings, and returning phone calls before leaving Rainbow most mornings.
